We have some exciting changes we would like to share with you.  Beginning today, 6/2/20, we will be re-opening our Beauty Shop using the following guidelines:

•  Stylists are required to use proper hand hygiene in between each appointment and whenever necessary.

• Residents must bring any reading material with them to the appointment for their own personal use. No reading material will be provided or shared amongst residents.

COVID-19 Update – Clothing

PLEASE TAG ALL CLOTHING

GSH is continuing our best efforts to keep your loved one safe.

At this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among staff or residents. There are currently no changes to the procedures that are in place to protect the residents. As a reminder, we are asking that if you bring in new clothing items for your loved ones that you write their name on the tag of the clothing item and the bag that you bring the clothes in. All clothing brought into the home goes directly to laundry to be washed and this helps staff keep track of who the clothing belongs to.

COVID-19 Quarantine Update

RESIDENT QUARANTINE UPDATES

At this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among staff or residents. There are a few changes that we are making to the precautions that have been put into place to protect residents. Starting on 5/11, the resident room quarantine is lifted. Residents are allowed to leave their rooms, but will still be quarantined to their unit. All residents must wear a mask when they are not in their room, but can now eat meals in their neighborhood dining room. Activities and devotionals will be held on each neighborhood for residents to attend, while social distancing.

If you have any questions regarding these changes please feel free to contact your loved ones designated social service aide.

Mother’s Day Window Visits

With tomorrow being Mother’s Day, we are looking forward to seeing you for window visits. However, please schedule a time for a visit by calling your loved one’s neighborhood today or the Social Services Coordinator on duty (Saturday, May 9th). Because of the large volume of families that visit for Mother’s Day, we have always had two days of activities in the past. The current visitor restrictions have made us unable to hold that event this year.

In order to avoid chaos and too many people around the outside of our facility, please call today to schedule a time for your Mother’s Day visit tomorrow. You are also welcome to come by today (call at least FOUR hours in advance) or sometime next week to celebrate if you are unable to come by Sunday. Please be patient with us tomorrow as we help make Mother’s Day just as special as every other year. We are happy to set up window visits and look forward to beautiful weather for Mother’s Day!

Phone System Issues

OCCASIONAL OUTAGES

We are currently experiencing intermittent outages on some of our phone lines. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please e-mail contact@gshq.org if you are unable to reach the person you are trying to call. We will then schedule a phone call or video chat with the resident you are trying to reach.

If it is an emergency, please call our main phone line and ask to speak to a nurse or the social services coordinator on the specific neighborhood.

We are doing our best to get all the phone lines up and running again. We appreciate your patience and support during this time.

Window Visits

WINDOW VISITS MUST BE SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE.

Effective April 28th, 2020, we reserve the right to deny window visits that have not been scheduled in advance.

As the weather becomes warmer, we ask that you please call to schedule a window visit with the Social Services coordinator in your loved one’s neighborhood. We love helping with window visits, but we do not want multiple people gathered on the lawn or around the building at one time. Calling in advance also gives us time to prepare for your visit without suddenly disturbing your loved one or other residents.

We are very happy to help with scheduling and setting up a time for your visit, but we do ask that you give us advanced notice. Residents in neighborhoods without direct window access, such as Anna Brown, will be moved to an area where a visit is accessible, provided the visit has been scheduled in advance. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to more great ‘window-visiting’ weather!

COVID-19 Restrictions Update

FACILITY-WIDE QUARANTINE

Due to an increased potential of COVID-19 exposure to our facility and under the advisement of the Adams County Health Department, we will be implementing further restrictions in our facility. Per this restriction, all residents in the facility will be quarantined to their resident rooms until further notice. As of April 28th, 2020, we continue to have zero confirmed cases of COVID-19.

It is the policy of Good Samaritan Home that the following procedure will be implemented until further notice. These procedures are being implemented under the recommendation and guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Adams County Health Department to decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission to our residents. All procedures are subject to change as conditions change within the surrounding community. Residents, staff, and families will continue to be updated with any changes. Visitors are still restricted.
