Herald-Whig says “So Long” to Sundays…
You may have heard the rumor, and we can confirm since a letter from the publisher was published, that the Herald-Whig will no longer produce a Sunday paper. This will be the first time since the merger of the Quincy Herald (1835), and the Quincy Whig-Journal (1838) way back in 1926, that we will not have a local Sunday paper. Print media has fallen on hard times with all of the technological advances we are now so accustomed to. Since 2004, an average of 100 newspapers have folded (pun intended) each year. In 2020, 1/3 of all newspapers laid off employees and reduced their staff. I know all too well, as I was the Marketing Manager for the Herald-Whig before coming to Good Samaritan in March of 2021. Once the paper was sold to an Arkansas based media company, it did not take long for me to read the writing on the wall…but this turned out to be a gigantic blessing in disguise! It does make me wonder though, if my children’s’ children will even know what a newspaper is?

Prayer Request & Scripture
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK
Psalm 16: 1-8
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. I say to The Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from You”…The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply…The Lord is my Chosen Portion and my Cup…I have set The Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
