Social Services Department

Written by: Ashleigh Zanger, Director of Social Services

The Social Service Department at Good Samaritan Home helps residents and families with a wide range of services. A few of our responsibilities include: making sure residents are adjusting to their new setting after admission, completing advanced directives, setting up any services for residents (including library visits, ancillary visits, and transportation arrangements), participation in interdisciplinary assessments, providing emotional support, lost and found, and discharge planning. Social Services works with all departments to make sure all residents needs are met.

The Social Services Department is made up of a Director, Assistant Director, and six Social Service Aides that are assigned to each neighborhood. They are:

Social Services Director: Ashleigh Zanger
Assistant Director & McReynolds Center: Kelsey Bennett
Eastbrook Lane & Sheltering Grove: Melinda Meyer
Anna Brown Vista: Lori Laratta
Southern Court: Lucinda Smith
Foose Center: Heather Fox
Sunny Dale & Stevenson Manor: Amy Laughlin-Liesen
Eber Gardens: Kayla Conrad

Social Services is here to advocate for you and coordinate your care. If there’s anything we can do, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Prayer Request & Scripture

This week we are praying for the residents in Southern Court and for the Nursing Administrators.

Our Scripture of the Week is Psalm 15 (The Message): “God, who gets invited to dinner at your place? How do we get on your guest list? ‘Walk straight, act right, tell the truth. Don’t hurt your friend, don’t blame your neighbor, despise the despicable. Keep your word even when it costs you, make an honest living, never take a bribe.’ You’ll never get blacklisted if you live like this.”

Changes to Administrative Staff

Chaplain James Riley resignation was accepted as of Friday, June 7th. As we search for his replacement, duties will be split up between Administrator Mike Duffy, Activities, and Social Services. Please direct any spiritual care concerns to Mr. Duffy.

Judy Graham will be rejoining our team on a temporary, part-time basis to assist with the transition to a new CFO/Associate Administrator. She will average about 3 days a week. Please welcome her return!

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time of transition!
