Proper Handwashing
By: Carol Dent, RN Coordinator for Stevenson Manor & Sheltering Grove

Take a few moments and look at your hand. The hand is an amazing piece of engineering. It allows you to pick up a fork to eat, button your blouse and hold a soft, beautiful baby. Our hands are a vital and necessary piece of equipment, and we need to treat them with care and keep them germ-free to promote good health.

Cold and flu season can last well into May. It is essential to adopt good healthy habits that include, eating a well-balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep and exercise, and keeping our hands clean. Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of disease and to promote good health.

When should I wash my hands?

  • Before you eat your meals
  • After using the restroom
  • Anytime your hands are soiled with something
  • After sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose

It is very important that you keep your hands clean and dry and AVOID frequently touching your face and hair. Keep your skin healthy by applying lotion after washing your hands especially during the winter months when the skin has more of a tendency to become dry and cracked

Have a healthy and germ-free season!!!

Prayer Request & Scripture

This week we are praying for the residents in Eber Gardens and for the Activity staff.

Our Scripture of the Week, the second week of Lent, is Psalm 6:1-3: “Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?”
