National Nursing Home Week

It’s National Nursing Home Week! We will have special activities all week to celebrate residents, staff, volunteers, and more! Family and friends are invited to join their loved ones for lunch on Sunday for Mother’s Day. Reservations are not required.

On Monday and Tuesday, the activities department will be hosting Mother’s Day Celebrations in the evening. Sunny Dale, Stevenson Manor, Eber Gardens, Eastbrook Lane, and Cherry Lane are invited to celebrate on Monday with Dennis Benjamin performing. Southern Court, Anna Brown, Sheltering Grove, Foose Center, McReynolds Center, and the Harrison Cottages are invited to Tuesday with Kayla Obert performing. Both nights will start at 6:30 pm in the Social Room. Light refreshments will be served.

On Wednesday, we will honor those turning 100 in the next year, as well as all current centenarians with our Century Club Celebration. This will start at 2 pm in the Social Room. Light refreshments will be served.

On Thursday, we will recognize our employees with a special treat for all three shifts, as well as a special performance from Flame and Embers for our residents in the Social Room at 2 pm.

On Friday, we will recognize our “Nacho Average Volunteers” with a Volunteer Luncheon, starting at 11:30 am in the Social Room. RSVP to Activities Director Sally Hodgson at ext. 4227.

Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, National Nursing Home Week recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s frail, elderly, and disabled.

Prayer Request & Scripture

This week we are praying for the residents in Eastbrook Lane and the Receptionists and Secretaries.

Our Scripture of the Week is Psalm 5:11-2 (The Message): “God you welcome us with open arms when we run for cover to you. Let the party last all night! Stand guard over our celebration. You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers, for decking us out in delight.”

Weekly Inspiration

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. – Eleanor Roosevelt

Food Drive

From May 1-17, we will be collecting food for local food pantries, including Horizons and the Quincy Neighborhood Federation. If you would like to donate nonperishable food items, there is a box at the front desk!
