OUR SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT WRITTEN BY KAYLA HOERR……

The Social Service Department at GSH is made up of one Social Service Director, one Assistant Social Service Director, and six Social Services Aides (SSA). A few of our responsibilities include: making sure residents are adjusting after admission into the building, completing advanced directives as needed, setting up any services they may need (including library visits, ancillary visits, and at times transportation arrangements), participation in interdisciplinary assessments, meeting with residents and family as needed for emotional support, lost and found, and most rewarding – discharge planning. The list could go on for days as Social Services work with all departments to make sure all residents’ needs are met. Our Social Services Department include:

Kayla Hoerr is the Social Service Director and has been with GSH for one year. She oversees the Social Service Department. Kayla graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

She has been with GSH for 15 years, working activities and in the dietary department before moving to SS eight years ago. Kelsey graduated from Quincy University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

Lucinda Smith is the SSA for Southern Court. She has been with GSH for 30 years, first working in housekeeping then moving to SS.
