Independent Shoppers, Don’t Miss Out!

Shopping trips to Wal-Mart are back! Wednesday the 28th we will start boarding the bus up at the main entrance at 8:30am sharp. We will begin boarding at 10:30am to return to the home. Please note that staff members do not stay for this outing. We hope to see you there!

Fall Fun Facts!

Did you know leaves really don’t change colors? The reds, oranges and golds we see in the fall are their natural colors. The two reasons they only come out in the Fall is the lack of sunlight, which reduces chlorophyll, which is the substance that actually turns leaves green, and the amount of sugar stored in the tree/sap. That’s why Maple leaves turn such a brilliant red color!

We all loves apple cider, but I bet you didn’t know it takes 36 apples to make 1 gallon of the fresh, Fall drink!

Historically, this time of year was called “harvest”, due to the brightest moonlight of the year which helped farmers harvest their crops. The British refer to this time of year as Autumn, while Americans call it Fall because as people became more urban than rural, they moved away from the harvest term and began to notice the change of the season when they started to see leaves fall.

Fall tourism, also known as “Leaf Peeping” in big money in the New England states, typically bringing in about $3 Billion every season!

Happy Birthday
